Die H\u00f6hle von Postojna ist eines der gr\u00f6\u00dften und meistbesuchten Karsth\u00f6hlensysteme Sloweniens und liegt in der N\u00e4he der Stadt Postojna im S\u00fcdwesten des Landes. Das H\u00f6hlensystem erstreckt sich \u00fcber 24 Kilometer mit G\u00e4ngen, Galerien und Hallen, wovon etwa 5 Kilometer f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich sind. Es ist bekannt f\u00fcr seine beeindruckenden Stalaktiten, Stalagmiten und einzigartigen Felsformationen sowie f\u00fcr den endemischen Grottenolm (Proteus anguinus), einen seltenen, blinden Wassersalamander, der in dieser Region heimisch ist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die H\u00f6hle von Postojna ist bequem mit dem Auto oder \u00f6ffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen. Von Ljubljana, der Hauptstadt Sloweniens, ist sie \u00fcber gut ausgeschilderte Autobahnen in etwa 50 Minuten zu erreichen. Auch Z\u00fcge und Busse verbinden Postojna mit den wichtigsten slowenischen St\u00e4dten. Vom Besucherzentrum aus bringt eine kurze elektrische H\u00f6hlenbahn die G\u00e4ste tief in die H\u00f6hle hinein und bietet so eine malerische und komfortable Einf\u00fchrung vor Beginn der gef\u00fchrten Wanderung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour lasts about 1\u00bd hours. The cave railway, in use since 1872, carries visitors through the Gothic Hall and the Ballroom to the Great Mountain; from there a guided walk leads across the Russian Bridge, through the Spaghetti, White and Red Halls to the Brilliant, the snow-white stalagmite that is the symbol of the cave, and past an aquarium with olms before the train returns to the surface. Tours are guided in Slovenian, English, German and Italian, with audio guides for other languages. The temperature inside is a constant 10 \u00b0C, so bring a warm jacket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2026 a ticket costs \u20ac34.90 for adults, \u20ac27.80 for students aged 16\u201325 and \u20ac20.70 for children aged 6\u201315; children up to 5 pay \u20ac1. Combined tickets, for example with Predjama Castle, cost less than separate tickets. Advance booking is recommended in the peak season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postojna Cave is famous not only for its size and accessibility but also for its historical significance and natural beauty. It has been open to visitors since the early 19th century and has hosted millions of tourists from around the world.
