Seeing the bridge is free: there is no ticket and the shore is open at all times. In 2026 a 90-minute sightseeing cruise with Maid of the Forth costs £18 for adults and £10.50 for children aged 5–15, and the three-hour trip with a landing on Inchcolm costs £21, plus £7.50 admission to the island. Sailings are most frequent in summer, so check the timetable before you go. After dark the bridge is floodlit, and sunset is the favourite time for photographers.

From Edinburgh Waverley, trains take about 15–20 minutes to Dalmeny station, from where a path leads down to the waterfront in 10–15 minutes; the same trains then cross the bridge to North Queensferry. Local buses and organised day tours from Edinburgh also serve South Queensferry. The town has restaurants, cafés and a historic high street, which makes it an easy half-day trip from the Scottish capital.

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images
