Zoo Zürich is one of the most modern and respected zoos in Europe. Located on the eastern hills above Zurich, the zoo is home to more than 300 animal species from around the world. Founded in 1929, it has evolved into a major center for wildlife conservation, scientific research, and environmental education.

Rather than traditional animal enclosures, Zoo Zurich is known for creating large, naturalistic habitats that closely resemble the animals’ native environments. One of the zoo’s most famous attractions is the Masoala Rainforest Hall, a vast indoor tropical ecosystem inspired by the rainforests of Madagascar. Visitors can walk among free-flying birds, reptiles, and exotic plants while experiencing warm tropical conditions year-round. Other highlights include the Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park, the Australian habitat, and the African savannah exhibits.
