Rosenborg Castle stands in the King’s Garden (Kongens Have) at \u00d8ster Voldgade 4A in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is exceptionally easy to reach, lying only about 200 metres from N\u00f8rreport station, which is a hub for the Metro, S-trains, regional trains, and city buses. The Round Tower is a short walk away, making the two simple to combine. There is no parking at the castle itself, so public transport is the recommended option. The surrounding King’s Garden is a free public park and a pleasant place to relax before or after a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The castle was built in the early 17th century by King Christian IV, one of Denmark’s most ambitious monarchs and a great patron of the arts, who used it as his favourite residence. Today it preserves around 400 years of royal history across some 24 rooms on three floors, beginning with Christian IV’s own Winter Room and culminating in the magnificent Long Hall that runs the full length of the top floor. The undisputed highlight is the Treasury in the basement, where the Danish Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia are kept under guard, including the dazzling coronation crown. Self-guided tour leaflets are available in several languages at the entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da das Schloss klein ist, werden die Eintrittskarten in Zeitfenstern verkauft, und w\u00e4hrend der stark frequentierten Sommersaison wird dringend empfohlen, im Voraus online zu buchen, um Entt\u00e4uschungen und Warteschlangen zu vermeiden. Wer mehrere k\u00f6nigliche Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten besuchen m\u00f6chte, kann den \u201eRoyal Palace Pass\u201c nutzen, der f\u00fcr rund 345 DKK drei Tage lang Zugang zu Rosenborg, Amalienborg und Christiansborg gew\u00e4hrt; auch die \u201eCopenhagen Card\u201c gew\u00e4hrt freien Eintritt.
