Le Palais royal de Bruxelles est le palais officiel du roi des Belges, o\u00f9 il travaille et re\u00e7oit les chefs d'\u00c9tat, la famille royale r\u00e9sidant au ch\u00e2teau de Laeken. Il se dresse sur la place des Palais, face au parc de Bruxelles, \u00e0 l'emplacement du palais m\u00e9di\u00e9val du Coudenberg des ducs de Brabant, d\u00e9truit par un incendie en 1731.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The present palace grew out of townhouses built in the late 18th century, which were joined into a single building in the 19th century. Its long neoclassical fa\u00e7ade dates from the remodelling ordered by King Leopold II and completed in the early 20th century, while the rooms inside are richly decorated with gilding, chandeliers and tapestries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parmi les temps forts de la visite figurent la salle du Tr\u00f4ne, le Grand Escalier et la salle des Glaces, dont le plafond et le lustre ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recouverts en 2002 par l'artiste Jan Fabre d'environ 1,4 million d'\u00e9lytres de scarab\u00e9es, une \u0153uvre intitul\u00e9e Heaven of Delight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The palace opens to the public only in summer, usually from late July to early September. In 2026, after a renovation of the fa\u00e7ade and windows that had kept it closed since 2022, it opened from 3 July to 16 August with timed tickets at \u20ac10 (free under 13) and several temporary exhibitions. When the flag flies above the palace, the King is in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
