L\u2019Acropole d\u2019Ath\u00e8nes est l\u2019un des sites arch\u00e9ologiques les plus importants du monde et le grand symbole de la culture grecque antique. Cette colline rocheuse, \u00e0 environ 150 m\u00e8tres d\u2019altitude, est habit\u00e9e depuis la pr\u00e9histoire et devint le centre religieux de l\u2019Ath\u00e8nes antique. Ses c\u00e9l\u00e8bres monuments de marbre furent b\u00e2tis au Ve si\u00e8cle av. J.-C., sous P\u00e9ricl\u00e8s. L\u2019Acropole est inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l\u2019UNESCO depuis 1987 et attire des millions de visiteurs chaque ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u00e9difice le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre est le Parth\u00e9non, temple de la d\u00e9esse Ath\u00e9na, protectrice de la cit\u00e9, construit entre 447 et 432 av. J.-C. On voit aussi l\u2019\u00c9rechth\u00e9ion et son portique des Caryatides, le petit temple d\u2019Ath\u00e9na Nik\u00e9 et l\u2019entr\u00e9e monumentale des Propyl\u00e9es. Sur le versant sud se trouvent le th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Dionysos et l\u2019od\u00e9on romain d\u2019H\u00e9rode Atticus. Ensemble, ils forment l\u2019un des groupes d\u2019\u00e9difices les plus influents de l\u2019architecture occidentale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Du sommet, la vue embrasse Ath\u00e8nes jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la mer ; elle est plus belle t\u00f4t le matin et vers le coucher du soleil, quand le marbre s\u2019illumine d\u2019une lumi\u00e8re chaude. Le mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Acropole, au pied de la colline, pr\u00e9sente les sculptures et objets trouv\u00e9s sur le site, dont les Caryatides originales ; son billet est s\u00e9par\u00e9. Beaucoup de voyageurs visitent les deux le m\u00eame jour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since April 2025 a ticket to the Acropolis costs \u20ac30 all year round; the reduced ticket costs \u20ac15, and EU citizens under 25 enter free. Tickets are sold for a fixed entry time, so book ahead on the official Hellenic Heritage website (hhticket.gr), especially in summer. The former combined ticket for several Athens sites has been discontinued. Admission is free on 6 March, 18 April, 18 May, the last weekend of September, 28 October and the first Sunday of each month from November to March, but those days are very crowded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site opens daily at 8:00. In summer it stays open into the evening, until about 19:00\u201320:00 depending on the month; from November to March it closes at 17:00, and last entry is half an hour before closing. It is closed on 1 January, 25 March, 1 May, Orthodox Easter Sunday and 25\u201326 December, and in heatwaves it may close during the hottest hours. Come at opening time, wear shoes with a good grip on the polished marble and bring water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Acropolis is in the centre of Athens. Akropoli station on metro line 2 is a few minutes\u2019 walk from the south-east entrance, which is usually quieter than the main gate; Monastiraki station (lines 1 and 3) is about 15 minutes away on foot through Plaka. From Athens International Airport, metro line 3 reaches Syntagma in about 40 minutes, one stop from Akropoli. The Plaka district below the hill is full of restaurants, caf\u00e9s and pedestrian streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
