Playa de Las Teresitas is the favourite beach of the people of Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. It lies next to the small fishing village of San Andr\u00e9s, a few kilometres north-east of the city. Most beaches on Tenerife have black volcanic sand, but Las Teresitas has golden sand. This is because the sand was brought by ship from the Sahara Desert in the 1970s. The beach is about 1.3 kilometres long and is surrounded by steep green mountains, which makes the setting very beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long stone breakwater protects the beach from the open sea, so the water is usually calm and safe for swimming. This makes it a very good beach for families. Palm trees give shade along the sand, and there are kiosks, showers and toilets. From the road above the beach there is a famous viewpoint where you can take photos of the golden bay and the mountains. In the village of San Andr\u00e9s nearby there are small restaurants that serve fresh fish and local food. Behind the beach rise the Anaga Mountains, a nature area with good walking paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Teresitas se trouve \u00e0 environ 8 kilom\u00e8tres du centre de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Vous pouvez vous y rendre en voiture en 15 minutes environ, ou en bus local depuis la ville. Il y a un parking \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la plage, mais il peut \u00eatre complet le week-end. L'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la plage est gratuit, et il est possible de louer des transats et des parasols. Elle est tr\u00e8s fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e les week-ends d'\u00e9t\u00e9 par les familles locales ; les jours de semaine y sont donc plus calmes. Le nord de T\u00e9n\u00e9rife peut \u00eatre plus nuageux que le sud ; pensez donc \u00e0 v\u00e9rifier la m\u00e9t\u00e9o avant de vous y rendre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
