Postiguet Beach (Platja del Postiguet) is the main city beach of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca in eastern Spain. It lies right in the centre of the city, so you can walk from the shops and restaurants straight onto the sand. The beach is about 900 metres long, with fine golden sand and calm, clear water. Above it rises Mount Benacantil with the Santa B\u00e1rbara Castle on top, which makes a beautiful background. The beach has a Blue Flag for its clean water and good services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beach is good for swimming and sunbathing, and it has showers, toilets, sunbeds and lifeguards in summer. Next to it is the Explanada de Espa\u00f1a, Alicante’s famous seaside promenade, with palm trees and a floor made of millions of small tiles in a wave pattern. From the beach you can go up to Santa B\u00e1rbara Castle, one of the largest medieval fortresses in Spain, by a lift inside the mountain or on foot. From the castle there are wide views over the beach, the city and the sea. The old town, El Barrio, with narrow streets and colourful houses, is also very close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La plage du Postiguet se trouve au c\u0153ur d'Alicante, \u00e0 quelques pas de la vieille ville et du port. La ville dispose d'un a\u00e9roport situ\u00e9 \u00e0 environ 20 minutes en bus ou en taxi, ainsi que de bonnes liaisons ferroviaires. L'arr\u00eat de tram \u00ab Mercado \u00bb et plusieurs lignes de bus se trouvent \u00e0 proximit\u00e9. L'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la plage est gratuit. En \u00e9t\u00e9, il est possible de louer des transats et des parasols. Comme il s'agit d'une plage urbaine, elle peut \u00eatre tr\u00e8s fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e en juillet et en ao\u00fbt ; il est donc conseill\u00e9 d'y aller t\u00f4t dans la journ\u00e9e. L'eau est chaude de juin \u00e0 octobre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
