The Courtyards Festival of C\u00f3rdoba (Festival de los Patios) is one of the most unique cultural events in C\u00f3rdoba, held every year in the first half of May. In 2026 it ran from 4 to 17 May, and the 2027 edition is expected from 3 to 16 May. During the festival, around fifty traditional Andalusian houses open their private courtyards to the public, allowing visitors to explore spaces that are normally closed. The event, inscribed by UNESCO on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2012, reflects centuries-old traditions of architecture and community life, where interior patios are decorated with flowers, fountains, and handcrafted details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For tourists, the festival is concentrated mainly in the historic center of C\u00f3rdoba. The patios are grouped into six routes through the San Basilio, Alc\u00e1zar Viejo, Jewish Quarter, Santa Marina, San Lorenzo and Santiago\u2013San Pedro neighbourhoods, and Calle San Basilio and Calle Mart\u00edn de Roa are home to some of the most famous courtyards. Entry is free and no booking is needed: in 2026 the 52 competing patios opened from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00, and visitors walk between them using the official map on patios.cordoba.es or the free Mayo Cordob\u00e9s app. The experience is immersive: whitewashed walls covered in geraniums, jasmine, and carnations, combined with traditional decorations and the hospitality of local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il momento clou della festa \u00e8 il concorso dei cortili, in cui i proprietari gareggiano per premi legati alla decorazione floreale, all\u2019architettura e all\u2019atmosfera. I patii sono divisi in categorie come architettura antica e moderna, e ognuno ha uno stile unico. Oltre alla semplice visita, molti cortili ospitano spettacoli di flamenco dal vivo, piccoli concerti ed eventi culturali, che fanno conoscere pi\u00f9 a fondo le tradizioni andaluse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anche la cucina e la cultura locale sono al centro dell\u2019esperienza. Dentro e intorno ai patii si possono gustare tapas tradizionali e vini della zona, soprattutto il Montilla-Moriles, serviti di solito nei bar vicini e a volte negli stessi cortili. Le code sono pi\u00f9 lunghe nel fine settimana e la sera, quindi le mattine dei giorni feriali sono il momento pi\u00f9 tranquillo per visitarli con calma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
