Le Infiorate di Spello is a traditional flower festival held annually in the medieval town of Spello, located in the region of Umbria. The event takes place during the weekend of Corpus Domini, a Catholic religious feast celebrated in late May or June. In 2026 it was held on 6\u20137 June, and the next Infiorate are expected on 29\u201330 May 2027, with the finished carpets on view on Sunday morning, 30 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This unique festival is known for its intricate floral carpets (tappeti floreali) and pictures (quadri) that cover around 1,500 square metres of the streets of Spello\u2019s historic center. Local residents spend months designing these compositions and gathering petals, which are then laid overnight using only natural materials from some 65 plant species: fresh petals, leaves and seeds. The artworks often depict religious scenes, geometric patterns, or artistic motifs, turning the town into a large open-air gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I visitatori possono passeggiare per le strade e osservare il processo creativo, rendendo questa esperienza particolarmente speciale per chi arriva il sabato sera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La domenica, i tappeti finiti vengono presentati in tutti i dettagli, seguiti dalla processione del Corpus Domini, che passa sopra le opere d'arte. La combinazione di arte, religione e tradizione comunitaria crea un'atmosfera unica che distingue questo festival da altri in Italia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per i turisti, il momento migliore per visitarla \u00e8 la domenica mattina presto, quando le composizioni floreali sono fresche e meno affollate. Spello \u00e8 una piccola citt\u00e0, quindi esplorarla a piedi \u00e8 facile, ma gli alloggi nella zona devono essere prenotati con largo anticipo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
