The Round Tower (Rundetaarn) stands on K\u00f8bmagergade in Copenhagen’s old Latin Quarter, a few minutes’ walk from the Str\u00f8get shopping street. The nearest station is N\u00f8rreport, about six minutes away on foot, served by the metro, S-trains and regional trains, and several bus lines stop nearby. Rosenborg Castle and the King’s Garden are close by, so the two are easy to combine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Storia e unicit\u00e0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

King Christian IV had the tower built between 1637 and 1642 as part of the Trinitatis Complex, which joined a student church, the university library and an astronomical observatory in one building. It is Europe’s oldest functioning observatory building: the Danish astronomer Ole R\u00f8mer worked here, and in 2026 the tower marks 350 years since his discovery of the speed of light. Instead of stairs, a spiral ramp about 200 metres long winds seven and a half times around the hollow core towards the top; in 1716 the Russian tsar Peter the Great is said to have ridden up it on horseback. Halfway up, the Library Hall hosts exhibitions and concerts, and the viewing platform, 34.8 metres above the street, gives a 360-degree view over the rooftops and spires of the old town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biglietti e informazioni pratiche<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

L'ingresso costa 60 DKK per gli adulti e 40 DKK per gli studenti; i ragazzi fino a 17 anni entrano gratis e i bambini fino a 11 anni devono essere accompagnati da un adulto. I biglietti si vendono solo alla biglietteria della torre, senza prevendita tranne che per gli eventi; si preferisce la carta, ma si accettano contanti in corone danesi o banconote in euro. Dall'aprile 2024 la Torre Rotonda non \u00e8 pi\u00f9 inclusa nella Copenhagen Card. Da ottobre a marzo \u00e8 aperta dalle 10:00 alle 18:00, e fino alle 21:00 il luned\u00ec e il marted\u00ec, quando la sera il telescopio dell'osservatorio \u00e8 aperto ai visitatori; da aprile a settembre \u00e8 aperta tutti i giorni dalle 10:00 alle 20:00. Raramente si attende pi\u00f9 di 20 minuti. Non c'\u00e8 ascensore e l'ultimo tratto verso la terrazza \u00e8 fatto di scale, quindi la cima non \u00e8 accessibile in sedia a rotelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
