By car the drive takes around two hours: follow the E47/E55 motorway south, take exit 41 and follow the signs to Møns Klint. Without a car, take the train to Vordingborg and a bus on to Stege; from there bus 678 runs directly to the GeoCenter Møns Klint from late March to the end of October, while bus 667 runs all year to Magleby, 5.5 kilometres from the cliffs. The GeoCenter also offers day trips by bus from Copenhagen.

Perché Møns Klint è famoso

The cliffs drop up to 120 metres sheer to the Baltic Sea, and the highest point, Dronningestolen, rises 128 metres above sea level. The white chalk is made of the shells of microscopic sea creatures that lived more than 70 million years ago; glaciers of the last ice age pushed and folded it upwards, and the sea still erodes it, exposing fossils on the beach. The woods, pastures and hills around the cliffs, including the 142-metre Aborrebjerg, one of the highest points in Denmark, are crossed by marked trails, and Møn is known for its dark night skies, ideal for stargazing. In July 2025 Møns Klint was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and around 250,000 people visit it each year.

Biglietti, GeoCenter e informazioni pratiche

Walking along the cliff tops, through the forest and down to the beach is free. Several stairways lead from the top down to the pebble beach, and the climb back up, with hundreds of steps, needs a reasonable level of fitness. The GeoCenter Møns Klint, a geology museum opened in 2007 with interactive exhibitions, a 3D cinema, fossils and guided fossil hunts, costs 155 DKK for adults and 100 DKK for children aged 3–11 (10 DKK less online), and children under 3 enter free. Parking costs 45 DKK, paid by QR code or at the machine. In 2026 the GeoCenter is open from 28 March to 30 October, mostly from 10:00 or 11:00 to 17:00 and until 18:00 in high summer, and it closes in winter, while the cliffs can be visited all year.

Denmark’s highest chalk cliffs, up to 128 m above the Baltic on the island of Møn, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2025;
