Playa de Las Teresitas is the favourite beach of the people of Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. It lies next to the small fishing village of San Andr\u00e9s, a few kilometres north-east of the city. Most beaches on Tenerife have black volcanic sand, but Las Teresitas has golden sand. This is because the sand was brought by ship from the Sahara Desert in the 1970s. The beach is about 1.3 kilometres long and is surrounded by steep green mountains, which makes the setting very beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long stone breakwater protects the beach from the open sea, so the water is usually calm and safe for swimming. This makes it a very good beach for families. Palm trees give shade along the sand, and there are kiosks, showers and toilets. From the road above the beach there is a famous viewpoint where you can take photos of the golden bay and the mountains. In the village of San Andr\u00e9s nearby there are small restaurants that serve fresh fish and local food. Behind the beach rise the Anaga Mountains, a nature area with good walking paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Teresitas dista circa 8 chilometri dal centro di Santa Cruz de Tenerife. \u00c8 possibile raggiungerla in auto in circa 15 minuti oppure con l\u2019autobus locale dalla citt\u00e0. Accanto alla spiaggia c\u2019\u00e8 un parcheggio, ma nei fine settimana pu\u00f2 essere pieno. L\u2019accesso alla spiaggia \u00e8 gratuito ed \u00e8 possibile noleggiare lettini e ombrelloni. Nei fine settimana estivi \u00e8 molto frequentata dalle famiglie del posto, quindi nei giorni feriali \u00e8 pi\u00f9 tranquilla. Il nord di Tenerife pu\u00f2 essere pi\u00f9 nuvoloso rispetto al sud, quindi \u00e8 consigliabile controllare le previsioni del tempo prima di partire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
