Confina con il quartiere armeno a ovest, con le mura della fortezza meridionale con la Porta di Sion a sud, con il Monte del Tempio a est e con il quartiere musulmano lungo via Shilshelet a nord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Storia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il quartiere \u00e8 stato abitato dagli ebrei almeno dall'VIII secolo a.C., anche se per gran parte della sua storia ha avuto una popolazione mista, comprendente musulmani e altri. Durante la guerra arabo-israeliana del 1948 il quartiere sub\u00ec gravi distruzioni e fu quasi completamente distrutto. Dopo la riconquista dell'area da parte di Israele nel 1967, sono iniziati i lavori di restauro, con molti siti storici, come la Sinagoga di Hurva, ricostruiti quasi da zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Area e punti di riferimento<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il quartiere ebraico si estende su 116.000 metri quadrati, circa il 14% della Citt\u00e0 Vecchia. Contiene numerosi punti di riferimento storici e architettonici, tra cui:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Il Muro del Pianto<\/strong>, ai piedi del Monte del Tempio, con un'ampia piazza pubblica per i visitatori.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Il Cardo<\/strong>, un'antica strada romana<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sinagoga di Hurva<\/strong> e numerose altre sinagoghe e siti storici restaurati<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visitare il quartiere<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitors can easily reach the Jewish Quarter via Jaffa Gate, walking along David Street and turning onto Cardo Street.
