It lies about 2 kilometres west of the harbour of Bol, on the southern coast of the island of Bra\u010d. What makes it unique is its shape: a narrow spit of fine pebbles reaching some 400\u2013500 metres into the turquoise Adriatic. Car ferries sail from Split to Supetar, the main port of the island, in about 50 minutes; from Supetar it is about 40 minutes by car or a little longer by local bus to Bol. Catamarans run by Jadrolinija and Kapetan Luka also link Split directly with Bol, and in summer a catamaran connects Bol with Dubrovnik.
