It is renowned for its distinctive polychrome fa\u00e7ade and its association with some of the most prominent figures of Italian history and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u0406\u0441\u0442\u043e\u0440\u0456\u044f<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction of Santa Croce began in 1294, dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Order. The main structure was completed in 1385, though additions and artistic embellishments continued during the Renaissance. Renowned masters such as Giotto, Donatello, and Bernardo Rossellino contributed frescoes and sculptures. One of the basilica\u2019s most celebrated spaces, the Pazzi Chapel, was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi in the 15th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The neo-Gothic fa\u00e7ade, faced with white, green, and red marble, was added in the 19th century.
