Temple Sveta Nedelya (Saint Nedelya, \u041a\u0430\u0442\u0435\u0434\u0440\u0430\u043b\u0435\u043d \u0445\u0440\u0430\u043c \u201e\u0421\u0432. \u0432\u0435\u043b\u0438\u043a\u043e\u043c\u044a\u0447\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0446\u0430 \u041d\u0435\u0434\u0435\u043b\u044f\u201c) is a cathedral of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, located in the center of Sofia on Sveta Nedelya Square. The square, together with the nearby Independence Square, forms part of the city\u2019s central area. Vitosha Boulevard is within walking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cathedral is named after the Great Martyr Nedelya, a figure venerated in the Balkans. The first church on the site was a wooden structure built in the 10th century. A stone church was erected in 1863, but it was severely damaged in a 1925 terrorist attack that killed about 150 people. Reconstruction was completed in 1933, resulting in the cathedral\u2019s present appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
