Agiou Andreou Street is one of the oldest commercial streets in Limassol. During the British rule in the early 20th century, it was the city\u2019s main business street. Today, its role has diminished compared to Anexartisias Street and other modern centers, but Agiou Andreou still preserves many beautiful historical buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, making it a fascinating place for visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The street begins near Limassol Castle and runs parallel to the seafront through the Old Town, where you\u2019ll also find the Ayia Napa Cathedral. From there, it moves away from the coastline, stretching towards the Limassol Municipal Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the way, you can spot former mansions, hotels, and shops from Limassol\u2019s golden era. A highlight is the yellow corner house opposite Ayia Napa Cathedral, a striking building from the early 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further along stands the Office of the Limassol Diocese, followed by the impressive Limassol Public Library. Housed in the former palace of local businessman Antonis Pilavakis, this is one of the city\u2019s most elegant landmarks. The original design was created by the French architect Edouard Niermans (famous for the Moulin Rouge in Paris) and later adapted by Greek architect Zacharias Vondas, who also designed the Yellow House and the Limassol Municipal Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
