Marina di Campo Beach is the main beach of the town of Marina di Campo, located on the southern coast of Elba Island in the Tuscany region of Italy. Situated within the Gulf of Campo, it is one of the longest sandy beaches on the island and a central element of the town’s identity as a seaside resort destination.

Marina di Campo lies approximately 15 km from Portoferraio, the principal port of Elba, which is connected by ferry to the mainland port of Piombino. From Portoferraio, the beach can be reached by car, taxi, or local bus services. The town also has a small regional airport serving seasonal flights. The beach is located directly adjacent to the town center and is easily accessible on foot from hotels, apartments, and the waterfront promenade. Parking areas are available nearby, although they may become limited during the high summer season.

Beach Characteristics

Marina di Campo Beach extends for approximately 1.5 kilometers along a gently curved bay. Unlike many of Elba’s smaller coves, which are characterized by pebbles or rocky shores, this beach consists primarily of fine golden sand. The seabed slopes gradually, and the shallow waters extend for a considerable distance from the shore, making it particularly suitable for families with children.

The surrounding landscape includes low hills and Mediterranean vegetation, providing partial natural shelter from strong winds. The water is generally clear, with shades of light blue and turquoise under favorable weather conditions.

Entrance Fees and Facilities

Access to the public areas of Marina di Campo Beach (spiaggia libera) is free of charge. In addition, several private beach establishments operate along the shoreline, offering sun loungers and umbrellas for daily rental fees. These establishments may also provide bars, restaurants, showers, and water sports equipment.

Seasonal lifeguard services are typically available during the main summer months. The beach promenade includes cafés, shops, and restaurants, contributing to its role as a central social and recreational space.

The swimming season usually extends from late May through September. Average sea temperatures are approximately:

The climate of Elba Island is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and mild winters. Summer air temperatures commonly range between 26 °C and 31 °C. Spring and early autumn offer milder conditions and lower humidity.
