安塔利亚卡莱奇（Kaleichi/Kaleiçi）

Kaleiçi is located in the center of Antalya, perched on cliffs overlooking the sea. Unlike the rest of the city, which can be noisy and crowded, Kaleiçi is calm and clean. Its narrow streets, paved with stone and tiles, are mostly walked by tourists, shopkeepers, and restaurant staff. Strolling here is a pleasure, as there’s a lot to see.

Kaleiçi is the historic heart of Antalya, dating back to the 2nd century BC. The area features remains of Roman defensive structures, medieval mosques with tall minarets, and Ottoman-era residential buildings. At the water’s edge lies Kaleiçi Harbor, the old port, from where you can take pleasure boat excursions along the coast.

A couple of hours is enough to explore Kaleiçi. Key sights include the Hadrian’s Gate, the Roman tower Hıdırlık, the 13th-century Yivli Minaret, and the 19th-century Saat Kulesi, which marks the main entrance to the district.

However, the true charm of Kaleiçi is in simply wandering its streets—sitting in the shade with Turkish coffee, browsing souvenir shops, enjoying ice cream, or dining in colorful restaurants. The area is enchanting both by day, when it’s quiet, and by night, when dim lights give it a mystical, ancient atmosphere.
