The Batalla de las Flores (Battle of Flowers) takes place in Valencia and is one of the main events of the Feria de Julio. The celebration is held every year on the last Sunday of July along the Paseo de la Alameda, a wide avenue near the historic center of the city. First organized in 1891, the event has become one of the most colorful and traditional festivals in Valencia.

The festival is famous for its unique concept: a large-scale parade followed by a symbolic “battle” using flowers. Participants ride on decorated floats and carriages covered with thousands of fresh flowers, while spectators throw flowers back at them. Around 1 million flowers, mainly carnations, are used during the event, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere filled with color and fragrance.

Visiting, Tickets and Experience

Unlike many public festivals, the Batalla de las Flores requires a ticket to access the main seating areas, as the event takes place in a controlled section of the Alameda. Ticket prices typically range from €10 to €40, depending on seating location and proximity to the parade route. Standing areas outside the main zone may offer limited views but are often free.

The main attraction is the parade of elaborately decorated floats, featuring participants in traditional Valencian costumes. After the parade, the event turns into a lively flower-throwing spectacle, where both participants and audience engage in the playful exchange. The event is accompanied by music, festive decorations, and a celebratory atmosphere typical of Valencian culture.

The venue is easily accessible from the center of Valencia. Visitors can reach the Alameda area in about 10–15 minutes on foot from the historic center or use public transport such as Metrovalencia lines 3 and 5 (Alameda station). Several bus lines also stop nearby, and the area is well connected during the festival period.

A typical visit lasts 2–3 hours, including the parade and the flower battle itself.
