Hluboká Castle is one of the most visited and photographed castles in the Czech Republic. Located above the Vltava River in the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, the castle is renowned for its striking white façade, elegant towers, and romantic neo-Gothic design. Although the site originally housed a medieval fortress dating back to the 13th century, the castle acquired its present appearance during a major reconstruction in the 19th century inspired by England’s famous Windsor Castle.

The castle served as the residence of the influential Schwarzenberg family, one of the wealthiest noble families in Central Europe. Visitors can admire richly decorated rooms, grand staircases, hunting salons, libraries, chandeliers, and valuable collections of art and historical furnishings. The interiors are considered among the most luxurious castle interiors in the country and provide a fascinating insight into aristocratic life during the 19th century.

Entrance fees vary depending on the tour route selected, but standard guided tours generally cost around CZK 250–350 for adults. Additional tours may provide access to private apartments, castle kitchens, towers, and special exhibitions. Because guided tours operate on scheduled times, booking tickets in advance is recommended during weekends and the summer tourist season.

Hluboká Castle is located approximately 10 kilometers from České Budějovice and about 150 kilometers south of Prague. Travelers can reach the castle by train, bus, or car, with local transport connections available from České Budějovice. The castle’s scenic location and easy accessibility make it one of the most popular day-trip destinations in South Bohemia.
