Košice Zoo is a zoological park located in the village of Kavečany, on the outskirts of Košice, Slovakia. Founded in 1979, the zoo covers an area of 288 hectares and is considered one of the most picturesque and largest zoos in Slovakia.

The zoo is situated in a wooded hilly area in the Slovakian mountains, blending organically with the surrounding forests. Visitors can reach the zoo by car (20–30 minutes from Košice city center) or by city bus No. 29 from the central railway station (approximately 50 minutes).

Attractions and Facilities

Košice Zoo is home to about 142 species of animals, including both exotic species such as lemurs, capybaras, monkeys, porcupines, meerkats, and lions, as well as local fauna including deer, horses, wild boars, bears, raccoons, and various ungulates.

The zoo offers a range of facilities for visitors, including toilets, a café, and a souvenir shop. Adjacent to the zoo are attractions such as Dino Park (a dinosaur-themed park) and a bobsleigh track that allows high-speed descents down the mountain.

• April to September: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• March and October: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• November to February: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The zoo is suitable for all-day visits, allowing guests to enjoy leisurely walks through its scenic territory and observe the animals in well-maintained enclosures integrated into the natural landscape.
