Vajdahunyad Castle (Hungarian: Vajdahunyad vára) is a decorative architectural complex located in Városliget Park, Budapest. It was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century to commemorate the millennium of Hungary, with the intention of synthesizing elements from 21 iconic Hungarian buildings from different regions of the country. Originally, the castle was intended to be a temporary structure for the celebrations, but due to its popularity among locals, it was later rebuilt in stone and preserved as a permanent landmark.

The castle stands near Heroes’ Square, slightly to the right of the park’s main entrance. Access to the castle grounds is free, and visitors approaching from the park cross a small decorative bridge over a lake before entering through a massive Gothic-style gate. Inside, the complex is a mixture of architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. Among the structures represented are copies of Corvin Castle (Vajdahunyad Castle) itself, Shegesvar Fortress, the tower of Catalina Fortress, and a Romanesque monastery with a chapel. An Italian-style palace with richly decorated bas-reliefs and sculptures is also part of the ensemble.

Despite its fortress-like appearance, Vajdahunyad Castle is not a defensive structure. Behind the palace, the buildings abruptly end, giving way to the park, highlighting its function as a decorative exhibition pavilion rather than a genuine castle. In an unusual choice, the complex houses the Hungarian Agricultural Museum, which occupies the main palace building.
