The best way to reach Barcelona is by plane. The city is served by a large international airport, Barcelona–El Prat Airport.

Most direct international flights arrive at Terminal T1. Flights from other parts of Europe often arrive at Terminal T2, which is divided into three buildings: A, B, and C. The airport is large but well-signposted in English, so it’s easy to navigate. Free green shuttle buses run between the terminals.

The distance from El Prat Airport to central Barcelona is about 10 km. A taxi ride to the city center costs around 35–40 euros (2024), and taxis are available right outside the airport exits.

You can also take the Aerobus, a dedicated airport bus service. The Aerobus stops near the exits of both terminals and travels directly to Plaza Catalunya. There are two intermediate stops along the route. Tickets cost 12 euros one-way or 17 euros round-trip and can be purchased online in advance. Buses run every 15 minutes, but do not operate at night (after 23:00 on weekdays and 22:45 on weekends).

Another option is the Renfe commuter train on the R2 (Nord) line. The station is located under Terminal T2B (in the underground passage between T2B and T2A). Trains run every 30 minutes from 06:00 to 22:00, stopping at Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, and Clot, with metro connections at the latter two stations.

You can also use city bus No. 46, which serves both terminals and goes into the city. This bus operates from 05:00 to 00:15, and you can use a T-10 city ticket for payment.

In general, travel time for all options is around 30 minutes. Taxis and trains are slightly faster, while the regular city bus takes longer due to multiple stops.

The cheapest way to travel is with a T-10 city ticket, which allows 10 trips on public transport within Zone 1 (central Barcelona). This ticket costs 12.15 euros (2024).
