Spanning the River Cher, the ch\u00e2teau is celebrated for its graceful Renaissance architecture, rich history, and beautiful gardens. Often called \u201cThe Ladies\u2019 Castle\u201d (Le Ch\u00e2teau des Dames), it owes much of its design and legacy to the influential women who owned, expanded, and decorated it over the centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5386\u53f2\u4e0e\u610f\u4e49<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The origins of the Ch\u00e2teau de Chenonceau date back to the early 16th century, when it was built on the site of an old mill by Thomas Bohier, the chamberlain to King Charles VIII. After his death, the ch\u00e2teau became the property of the French Crown and was later gifted by King Henry II to his mistress, Diane de Poitiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diane de Poitiers played a major role in shaping the ch\u00e2teau\u2019s appearance, commissioning the construction of the arched bridge that spans the River Cher and designing its magnificent gardens.
