Perched on a hilltop, the castle dominates the surrounding landscape and the historic town, which is known for its cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and charming gates. \u00d3bidos is often referred to as one of Portugal\u2019s most picturesque towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5386\u53f2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The origins of the Castle of \u00d3bidos date back to the 12th century, following the Christian reconquest of the region from the Moors. King Afonso I of Portugal granted the town to Queen Urraca, and it later became a royal gift to various queens of Portugal, earning it the nickname \u201cThe Queen\u2019s Town.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5efa\u7b51\u5b66<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Castle of \u00d3bidos is a classic example of Portuguese medieval military architecture, with its massive stone walls, battlements, and defensive towers. Key features include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Outer Walls:<\/strong> Enclosing the town, these walls are dotted with turrets and gateways, creating a fortified perimeter that can still be walked along in parts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Keep:<\/strong> The castle\u2019s central tower, or keep, rises above the surrounding structure and offers panoramic views of the town and countryside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gates and Towers:<\/strong> Notable entrances such as the Porta da Vila and Porta de S\u00e3o Tiago feature decorative stonework and inscriptions from the medieval period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Courtyards and Interiors:<\/strong> The interior spaces of the castle, some of which have been converted into hotel rooms, retain elements of Gothic and Renaissance design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u8425\u4e1a\u65f6\u95f4\uff1a<\/strong><br>The castle and town walls are generally open throughout the year, with the pousada and tourist areas operating daily. The drive takes approximately one hour, and parking is available near the town entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u4e58\u5750\u516c\u4ea4\u8f66\uff1a<\/strong><br>Regular bus services operate from Lisbon, Caldas da Rainha, and other nearby towns.
