It was constructed in the 15th century by order of Pope Sixtus IV, after whom the chapel is named. Originally intended as a modest private chapel for the use of the Popes of Rome, it has since become a central site for both religious and artistic significance. Today, it draws visitors from around the world and serves as the venue for papal conclaves, where new Popes are elected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5386\u53f2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction of the Sistine Chapel began in 1473 and was completed in 1481. The chapel was intended as a private papal chapel but was gradually transformed into a monumental work of art through the contributions of some of the greatest Renaissance masters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notable artists involved in the decoration include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Michelangelo Buonarroti, who painted the famous ceiling (1508\u20131512) and the Last Judgment on the altar wall (1536\u20131541).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sandro Botticelli, who painted several frescoes on the side walls depicting scenes from the lives of Moses and Jesus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cosimo Rosselli, Pietro Perugino, and others, who contributed to the side wall frescoes illustrating important biblical events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michelangelo\u2019s ceiling is particularly significant, depicting a complex cycle of frescoes covering scenes from Genesis, as well as the figures of prophets, sibyls, and ancestors of Christ. The Last Judgment on the altar wall is equally monumental, representing the Second Coming of Christ and the final judgment of souls. These works are widely regarded as the pinnacle of Renaissance art and have profoundly influenced Western art history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5efa\u7b51\u4e0e\u5ba4\u5185\u8bbe\u8ba1<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sistine Chapel is a rectangular hall measuring approximately 40 meters in length and 14 meters in width, with a high vaulted ceiling. The interior is entirely decorated with frescoes, creating a continuous narrative across the walls and ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lighting:<\/strong> The chapel has limited natural light entering through small windows; there is no artificial lighting, resulting in semi-dark conditions that enhance the dramatic effect of the frescoes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Crowds:<\/strong> Due to its global fame, the chapel is almost always crowded, making quiet contemplation difficult. Visitors are required to remain <strong>silent<\/strong> during their visit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visiting the Chapel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To access the Sistine Chapel, visitors must purchase a ticket to the Vatican Museums and walk through a series of museum galleries and corridors. The chapel is located at the far end of the museum route, near the exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Practical tips for visitors:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Many tourists find that the walk through the museum halls before reaching the chapel can be tiring. To fully appreciate the frescoes, it is recommended to visit the Sistine Chapel first if possible, and then explore the rest of the museum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photography is strictly prohibited inside the chapel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The chapel is included in all standard Vatican Museum tickets, and guided tours or audio guides are recommended to understand the historical and artistic context of the
