Baia dei Turchi (Italian for \u201cBay of the Turks\u201d) is a natural beach located on the Adriatic coast of the Salento peninsula in the Apulia (Puglia) region of southern Italy. It lies a few kilometres north of Otranto within a protected natural area that includes the Laghi Alimini Oasis, a landscape of dunes, Mediterranean vegetation and pine woods. The bay\u2019s name refers to local legend about the landing of Turkish forces during the 15th-century Siege of Otranto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
