Aqueduct of Vanvitelli, also known as the Caroline Aqueduct, is one of the most remarkable hydraulic engineering projects of the 18th century. Designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli for King Charles VII of Naples, the aqueduct was constructed to transport water from mountain springs to the magnificent Royal Palace of Caserta and its extensive gardens. Completed in 1770, the structure became an important symbol of technological and architectural achievement during the Bourbon period in southern Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most famous section of the aqueduct is the monumental three-tier bridge near the Valle di Maddaloni. Built from stone and stretching across the valley with elegant arches, the structure is often compared to ancient Roman aqueducts because of its massive scale and harmonious proportions. The aqueduct is located in the Campania region near Caserta and can be reached by car from Naples in approximately 40\u201360 minutes. Travelers using public transport usually take a train to Caserta before continuing by local bus or taxi toward the Maddaloni area.
