It combines a compact historical center, relaxing green spaces, and modern leisure facilities, making it a pleasant stop for tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Historical Center<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The heart of Poprad is the pedestrian zone known as Namestie Sv\u00e4t\u00e9ho Eg\u00eddia (St. Egidius Square). Here you\u2019ll find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Church of St. Egidius, a medieval Gothic church that gave the square its name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Evangelical Church, a symbol of Poprad\u2019s Protestant history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The square is small but charming: tree-lined with benches, outdoor caf\u00e9s, and bicycle paths. Cars are not allowed in the center, which makes it peaceful and ideal for strolling. There are no large malls in the historic center\u2014the only major store here is a two-story H&amp;M. For shopping, the nearest mall is MAX Poprad, located about a 15\u201320 minute walk away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting to the Center<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the Poprad railway and bus stations, the city center can be reached in just 7\u20138 minutes on foot. A pedestrian path leads from the station toward the small Poprad River, and after crossing the bridge, you\u2019ll find yourself in the main square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Attractions in Poprad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have time to spare, consider extending your walk:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u65af\u76ae\u4ec0\u65af\u5361\u7d22\u535a\u5854<\/strong> \u2013 about a 15\u201320 minute walk from central Poprad. Once an independent town, it now forms a historical suburb of Poprad with a well-preserved medieval square.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AquaCity Poprad<\/strong> \u2014\u2014\u4e00\u5ea7\u5168\u5e74\u5f00\u653e\u7684\u6e29\u6cc9\u6c34\u4e0a\u4e50\u56ed\uff0c\u4f4d\u4e8e\u6ce2\u666e\u62c9\u5fb7\u548c\u65af\u76ae\u4ec0\u65af\u5361\u7d22\u535a\u5854\u4e4b\u95f4\uff0c\u6df1\u53d7\u5bb6\u5ead\u6e38\u5ba2\u548c\u517b\u751f\u7231\u597d\u8005\u7684\u6b22\u8fce\u3002<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accommodation in Poprad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many travelers prefer staying in Poprad rather than in the High Tatras resorts, as hotel prices are significantly lower. The Tatran Electric Railway (TE\u017d) runs regularly between Poprad and resort towns like Star\u00fd Smokovec and \u0160trbsk\u00e9 Pleso, making mountain trips convenient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accommodation options include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Larger hotels such as Hotel Tatra and Hotel Poprad in the city center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smaller guesthouses like Penzi\u00f3n Jakub, located near the train station and supermarket Billa. For around \u20ac80 per night (2024 prices), you can get a room with half-board included. Rooms are uniquely decorated, though the cheapest ones can be quite small.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Visit Poprad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A calm, compact city center with caf\u00e9s and pedestrian areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easy access to the High Tatras by train<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower accommodation prices compared to mountain resorts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u9760\u8fd1\u5386\u53f2\u60a0\u4e45\u7684\u65af\u76ae\u4ec0\u65af\u5361\u7d22\u535a\u5854\u548cAquaCity\u6c34\u4e0a\u4e50\u56ed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poprad may not be the main highlight of Slovakia, but it is an excellent base for exploring the High Tatras and offers enough charm to keep visitors interested for a day
