The Rhine Falls is situated near the town of Schaffhausen, close to the Swiss\u2013German border. The nearest major cities with international airports are Zurich and Basel. The waterfall measures approximately 150 meters in width and 23 meters in height. Although other Swiss waterfalls, such as Staubbachfall, are higher, the Rhine Falls is notable for its width and the powerful force of the water. During periods of maximum flow, the discharge can exceed 600 cubic meters per second. The formation of the waterfall dates back more than 14,000 years, originating after the last Ice Age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Excursion boats operate from the northern bank near W\u00f6rth Castle, transporting visitors to the central rock located within the waterfall. From the rock, panoramic views are available. Boat tickets typically cost 7 CHF, with departures approximately every 10 minutes during the main visitor season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The castle complex has been restored for tourism and includes an exhibition on the geological and cultural history of the falls, a restaurant, caf\u00e9, children\u2019s playground, and viewing terraces offering close perspectives of the waterfall. A pedestrian path leads from the castle to platforms located directly beside the cascading water.The Rhine Falls (Rheinfall) on the Rhine River in Switzerland is the largest waterfall in Europe by volume of water. It is best to come to see it in late spring and summer, when it is at its fullest. In winter there will be 2-3 times less water here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
