It is one of the city\u2019s best-known landmarks, linking the historic peninsula with the districts of Karak\u00f6y and Beyo\u011flu on the northern shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u5386\u53f2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several bridges have been constructed on this site since the 19th century:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>First bridge<\/strong> (1845) \u2013 a wooden bridge built by Sultan Abd\u00fclmecid I.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Second bridge<\/strong> (1863) \u2013 constructed during the reign of Sultan Abd\u00fclaziz.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Third bridge<\/strong> (1875) \u2013 designed by a French company.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fourth bridge<\/strong> (1912) \u2013 a floating bridge that served for many decades.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Current bridge<\/strong> (1994) \u2013 built after the previous bridge was damaged by fire; it remains in use today.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus, the present Galata Bridge is the fifth structure at this location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Structure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u957f\u5ea6\uff1a<\/strong> 484 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u5bbd\u5ea6\uff1a<\/strong> approximately 42 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Levels:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Upper deck:<\/strong> reserved for road traffic, trams (line T1), and pedestrian sidewalks. Local fishermen are often seen lining the sides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lower deck:<\/strong> contains a pedestrian walkway and numerous fish restaurants, as well as small shops and services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drawbridge section:<\/strong> the central part is designed to open for large vessels entering the Golden Horn, although it is rarely raised in modern times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Location and Accessibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bridge connects two of Istanbul\u2019s most significant areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Old City (Historic Peninsula):<\/strong> Emin\u00f6n\u00fc, Sultanahmet, and nearby landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, Topkap\u0131 Palace, the Blue Mosque, the New Mosque (<em>Yeni Camii<\/em>), and the Egyptian (Spice) Bazaar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>New City (Beyo\u011flu district):<\/strong> Karak\u00f6y, Galata Hill, Galata Tower, and the pedestrian avenue Istiklal Street, accessible via the historic underground T\u00fcnel funicular.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access is straightforward:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A short walk (6\u20137 minutes) from Sirkeci Station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Around 15 minutes on foot from Hagia Sophia and Topkap\u0131 Palace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direct connection by tram T1 (Emin\u00f6n\u00fc stop).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tourism and Culture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although architecturally modest, the Galata Bridge is valued for its cultural significance and scenic views:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Panoramic views:<\/strong> The bridge offers striking perspectives of the Bosphorus Strait, the Golden Horn, and Istanbul\u2019s skyline, especially at sunset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fishing tradition:<\/strong> Local anglers regularly fish from the sidewalks, creating a distinctive atmosphere.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Restaurants and cafes:<\/strong> The lower level hosts numerous eateries specializing in seafood.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Street food:<\/strong> Near the bridge, vendors sell the popular <em>bal\u0131k ekmek<\/em> (fish sandwich), along with snacks such as roasted corn and chestnuts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Proximity to ferry services:<\/strong> Emin\u00f6n\u00fc Pier, located beside the bridge, is a main departure point for Bosphorus cruises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the Galata Bridge remains not only a vital transport link but also a symbol of daily life in Istanbul, blending local traditions with a vibrant tourist presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery
