Eurochocolate is one of the largest and most famous chocolate festivals in Europe, held each November in the beautiful Umbrian hill city of Perugia — fittingly, the home of the Baci chocolate and of a great Italian confectionery tradition. For around ten days the historic centre fills with stalls, exhibitors and chocolatiers from Italy and abroad, along with tastings, cooking shows, sculptures carved from giant blocks of chocolate, and hands-on workshops. Part food fair, part street festival and part sensory celebration, it draws huge crowds of chocolate lovers and transforms the whole city into a temple of cocoa. The 2026 edition takes place from 13 to 22 November.
What to See
The festival spreads through Perugia’s elegant historic centre — along the Corso Vannucci and around the Piazza IV Novembre and Piazza Italia — where dozens of stands offer chocolate in every conceivable form to taste and buy. Highlights include the “Chocolate Experience” and cooking-show stages, live demonstrations by master chocolatiers, and the famous chocolate sculptures. Beyond the chocolate, Perugia itself is a delight, with its medieval and Renaissance monuments, Etruscan gateway and sweeping views over the Umbrian countryside, making the festival an excuse to discover one of central Italy’s most attractive cities.

Perugia, the capital of Umbria, lies in central Italy between Florence and Rome and is reached by train (with connections via Florence or Rome) and by its own small airport; the historic centre sits on a hilltop, linked to the lower town and car parks by escalators and a small minimetro. Wandering the festival streets is free, while some tastings, workshops and special experiences are ticketed or paid; the event is busiest at weekends, so weekday visits are more relaxed.
