The nearest airport is Ben Gurion (TLV), roughly 50 km away, with a fast train reaching central Jerusalem in about half an hour. Within the city, a light-rail line and buses connect the main districts, though services largely pause for the Sabbath from Friday evening to Saturday evening. The Old City itself is walked entirely on foot. Because conditions can change, always check current safety advice before and during any trip.

Jerusalem is moderately priced, generally a little cheaper than Tel Aviv. Expect roughly 350-700 ILS per night for a mid-range hotel (about 90-175 EUR), with hostels and guesthouses from around 100 ILS. A casual meal runs about 50-100 ILS, a coffee 12-16 ILS and a fresh juice or snack in the market a few shekels. Many of the great religious sites are free to enter, while museums cost around 30-55 ILS. The currency is the Israeli new shekel (ILS); prices are approximate and vary by season.
