Spiaggia Urbani is the main beach of Sirolo, a coastal town located in the Marche region of central Italy, along the Adriatic Sea. Positioned at the foot of the Monte Conero promontory within the Conero Riviera, the beach is enclosed by limestone cliffs that form a distinctive semicircular bay. Its natural setting and proximity to the historic center of Sirolo make it one of the most notable coastal sites in the region.

Access to Spiaggia Urbani from Sirolo’s historic center is primarily pedestrian, via a descending pathway or stairway leading from the cliff-top town to the beach below. Due to the steep terrain typical of the Conero coastline, direct road access to the shoreline is limited. Parking areas are located in designated zones above the beach, especially outside the restricted traffic areas during summer.

Beach Characteristics

Spiaggia Urbani is characterized by a mixture of fine gravel and small pebbles rather than sand. The shoreline follows a curved formation, and the surrounding cliffs provide partial shelter from winds. The seabed slopes gradually in most areas, though some sections become deeper at a short distance from the shore.

The water is typically clear, with shades of blue and turquoise influenced by sunlight and the white limestone cliffs. The natural landscape, including rocky outcrops and Mediterranean vegetation, contributes to the beach’s scenic character.

Entrance Fees and Facilities

Access to the public sections of Spiaggia Urbani (spiaggia libera) is free of charge. A portion of the beach is managed by private concessions during the summer season, offering rental of sun loungers and umbrellas for a daily fee. These establishments may also provide showers, changing cabins, and small refreshment services.

Lifeguard supervision is generally present during peak summer months. Basic facilities are available on-site, while a broader range of restaurants and cafés can be found in Sirolo’s town center above the beach.
