瑞典斯德哥尔摩诺贝尔奖博物馆

The Nobel Prize Museum sits right on Stortorget, the main square of Gamla Stan, inside the historic former Stock Exchange building (Börshuset), which also houses the Swedish Academy. It is one of the most central attractions in the old town and is easily reached by metro to Gamla Stan station, just a few minutes away on foot. Because it stands on the square, it is simple to combine with Storkyrkan, the Royal Palace, and a wander through the surrounding lanes.

Opened in 2001 to mark the centenary of the first Nobel Prizes, the museum is dedicated to the prize founded by the Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel and to the laureates who have received it in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace, and economic sciences. Through short films, artefacts, and changing exhibitions, it explores creativity, discovery, and the lives of the people behind some of history’s most important achievements. A famous detail is the café, where many of the chairs are signed underneath by visiting laureates.

Adult admission is around 150 SEK, with reduced or free entry for children and young people, and the museum is included in the Go City Stockholm Pass. It is a fairly compact museum, and most visitors spend around an hour to ninety minutes here, making it easy to fit into a day exploring the old town. Guided tours and a well-stocked shop are available, and the central location means there are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. Note that there are long-term plans for a future Nobel Center elsewhere in the city, so it is worth confirming the current location before you visit.
