Bloemencorso Bollenstreek, also known as the Flower Parade of the Bulb Region, is an annual spring parade held in the Bollenstreek (bulb-growing) region of the Netherlands. It is one of the country’s most spectacular floral festivals, attracting around one million visitors each year.

The parade tradition dates back to 1947, when the first floats made from bulb flowers were introduced. In 2021, the event was recognized as Dutch Intangible Cultural Heritage, highlighting its cultural importance. Today, dozens of decorated floats, luxury vehicles, and musical groups travel the route, all adorned with spring bulb flowers such as hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils.

When It Takes Place

The festival spans nearly a full week in April, generally from mid-April.

Key dates include:

• Decoration Days (float construction): Wednesday to Friday before the main parade.
• Illuminated Parade: On Friday evening, there is a special illuminated procession through Noordwijkerhout.
• Main Parade (Corso Saturday): On Saturday, the grand flower parade runs from Noordwijk to Haarlem.
• Float Display: On Sunday, the floats remain on display in Haarlem, giving visitors a chance to view them up close.

For example, in 2026, the main parade is scheduled for 18 April, with preceding build-up days from 15–17 April, and the float display in Haarlem on 19 April.

Route and Location

The parade route is approximately 42 km long. It starts in Noordwijk (on the coast) and passes through several towns in the bulb region, including Voorhout, Sassenheim, Lisse (near Keukenhof), Hillegom, and Bennebroek, before arriving in Haarlem. Along the route, there are grandstands (bleachers) in several towns: Noordwijk, Voorhout, Lisse, and Hillegom.

Viewing from the roadside is free, though grandstand tickets (with seating, catering, and other facilities) are available for those who want a more comfortable experience.
