The Teleférico del Teide is located within Teide National Park on the island of Tenerife, Spain. It provides access to the upper slopes of Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain at 3,715 meters. The lower station of the cable car is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,356 meters, while the upper station reaches about 3,555 meters, just below the summit. The cableway is one of the main tourist attractions in the Canary Islands and offers a fast and convenient way to experience high-altitude volcanic landscapes.

Visiting, Prices and Experience

The cable car journey takes about 8 minutes, covering a vertical ascent of more than 1,100 meters. During the ride, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of lava fields, craters, and, on clear days, neighboring Canary Islands. At the upper station, several marked walking trails allow visitors to explore viewpoints overlooking the volcanic terrain and the island below.

A standard round-trip ticket for the Teleférico del Teide usually costs around €38–€41 for adults and €19–€21 for children, depending on the season and availability. It is recommended to book tickets in advance, as access may be limited due to weather conditions or capacity restrictions. Entry to the national park itself is free, but the cable car is a paid attraction.

To reach the actual summit of Mount Teide, visitors must obtain a special permit, as access is restricted to protect the environment. From the upper cable car station, the final hike to the peak takes about 30–40 minutes, but only those with a valid permit are allowed to continue on this trail.

The cable car can be reached by car from major tourist areas such as Costa Adeje or Puerto de la Cruz in approximately 1–1.5 hours via mountain roads (TF-21 or TF-24). Public transport is also available: bus line 342 connects Costa Adeje with the cable car base station, while line 348 runs from Puerto de la Cruz, although both operate only once per day in each direction.
