The HistoryLand museum in Poznan is the history of Poland recreated from more than a million Lego bricks.
Previously, this museum was located in Krakow, but now it has moved to Poznan, to Hall 3A of the Poznań International Fair. The museum’s exhibition itself has not changed.
The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Last entrance: 5:15 pm. An adult ticket costs PLN 45.
There are large-scale models built almost entirely from Lego bricks. All models depict some special historical place or a significant battle for Poland. The announcer in Polish talks about the object (event) itself. If you wish, you can take an audio guide in English (we didn’t take it). The impression of what you see is enhanced by various lighting and visual effects (light, sound, projections).
The HistoryLand Museum has ten models, including:
1. Battle of Grunwald (You seem to be passing between the troops of Poland and the Teutonic Order shortly before the start of the Battle of Grunwald).
2. Naval Battle of Oliva (Clash between Polish and Swedish galleon ships). At the exposition there is a ship’s steering wheel, by turning which you can change the weather at sea.
3. Monastery in Jasna Gora (here you can take virtual reality glasses and fly over the monastery).
4. Biskupin, a prehistoric fortified settlement of the Iron Age.
5. Defence of Westerplatte (1939).
6. Krakow Market Square (there are several models here, including the Town Hall Tower, Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Church).
7. Panorama of the Gdansk shipyard.
Outside the exhibition, you can visit a Lego store and a Lego playroom for children (free of charge).
Children will certainly find it interesting to visit the museum. Here you can watch and play. Beautiful layouts will not leave adults indifferent either.
