Weather in Brussels by season
Brussels has a mild, damp maritime climate: rain can fall in any month, but long downpours are rare and most wet days bring only a few showers. Summers are pleasant rather than hot, with afternoons around 22–23 °C from June to August and nights of 13–15 °C. Winters are grey and cool: highs of 6–8 °C, lows just above freezing and 12–14 rainy days a month.
Best time to visit
May to September is the most comfortable time, with highs of 18–23 °C and about 19–20 dry days a month — ideal for the Grand-Place, the Royal Palace and a trip out to the Atomium. April and October are quieter and cooler (14–16 °C), still fine for sightseeing with a light jacket.
On a rainy day
Pack a compact umbrella whatever the season. When the forecast turns wet, the covered Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries, the Musical Instruments Museum and the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula are good places to spend a few hours indoors.
