Rock Werchter takes place in the village of Werchter, near the city of Leuven, in the Flemish region of Belgium. The festival site is located in Festivalpark Werchter, which is easily accessible by train (via Leuven) followed by shuttle buses, or by car with organized parking areas. During the event, additional transport services are provided to handle the large number of visitors.
The festival was first held in 1975 and has grown into one of the most important music festivals in Europe. It is recognized for its high-quality production and consistently strong lineups featuring world-famous artists across multiple genres. Rock Werchter welcomes up to around 88,000 visitors per day, several hundred thousand over the four festival days. The event has won multiple international awards and is considered a key highlight of the European summer festival season.
Rock Werchter usually takes place over four days in late June or early July. The 2026 edition ran from 2 to 5 July; the next one is scheduled for 1–4 July 2027, with Tame Impala announced as the first headliner on Sunday 4 July.
Prices and Opening Hours
Rock Werchter is a ticketed event. In 2026 a combi ticket for all four days cost €315 and a one-day ticket €140, including service, mobility and eco fees; camping required an extra camping ticket for €46. Popular days sell out early, and ticket sales for 2027 open in autumn 2026, with a presale registration available beforehand.
The festival grounds are generally open from late morning or early afternoon until late at night, with concerts running continuously throughout the day and headline acts performing in the evening. After-parties and campsite activities often continue into the early hours.
