Limassol weather on the south coast of Cyprus
Limassol has one of the sunniest climates in Europe, with dry, hot summers and short, mild winters. From June to September it hardly ever rains, afternoons reach 30–33 °C and nights stay warm at 21–24 °C. Winter brings most of the year’s rain, with 7–11 wet days a month from December to February, yet daytime temperatures still reach 16–18 °C.
Carnival, wine and the beach season
The beach season at Dasoudi and along the Molos promenade runs from May to October. Limassol is famous for its Carnival before Lent in February or March and for the Wine Festival in the Municipal Garden at the end of summer. Spring and autumn, with 19–27 °C, are ideal for walks through the Old Town and along Agiou Andreou Street or a trip to the ruins of Kourion.
Rainy days and the mountains
On rare rainy days, the medieval castle and the Cathedral of Ayia Napa in the Old Town are close at hand. In winter, the Troodos Mountains, about an hour’s drive inland, often have snow while the coast stays green and mild.
