Copenhagen weather by the Øresund

Copenhagen has a mild maritime climate: the sea keeps winters from getting very cold and summers from getting hot. July and August reach about 20–21 °C, with cool nights around 15 °C, while from December to February days stay around 4–6 °C and frost is short-lived. Rain is spread evenly through the year, with showers on 9–13 days a month, and a fresh wind off the water is common.

Long summer days in the city

June to August brings long, light evenings, with almost 18 hours of daylight around midsummer, ideal for the canals of Nyhavn, a harbour swim or a ride along the cycle lanes to the Little Mermaid. May and September, with 15–18 °C, are quieter and still pleasant for the gardens of Rosenborg Castle and the changing of the guard at Amalienborg.

Rainy days and winter hygge

When showers pass over, climb the spiral ramp of the Round Tower, explore Christiansborg Palace or warm up in a café. Winter days are short and grey, but from mid-November the Tivoli Gardens and their Christmas market light up the city.
