Weather in Hurghada by season
Hurghada on the Red Sea has a hot desert climate: rain is almost unknown and every month is sunny. From June to September afternoons reach 36–38 °C and nights stay at 27–29 °C. Winter is the mild season, with 21–23 °C by day from December to February and cool evenings around 12–14 °C, when a sweater comes in handy.
When to go to Hurghada
March–April and October–November are the most comfortable months: 26–32 °C and a warm sea for swimming and snorkelling over the coral reefs, without the midday heat of summer. Winter suits walks and desert trips such as a jeep safari to a Bedouin village; summer is for those who spend the day in the water.
Sun and wind
The sun is strong all year, so bring a hat, high-factor sunscreen and plenty of water. A steady northerly wind often blows along the coast, making hot days feel cooler and the afternoons ideal for kitesurfing.
