Sharm El Sheikh weather at the tip of Sinai
Sharm El Sheikh, at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, is one of the warmest winter destinations within easy reach of Europe. Even in January afternoons reach about 22 °C and nights rarely fall below 14 °C, while rain falls on no more than a day or two a year. Summer is fierce: from June to September afternoons reach 37–39 °C, with nights around 28–29 °C.
Diving and the best months
The reefs of Ras Mohammed National Park and the Straits of Tiran, and the house reefs around Naama Bay, offer clear water all year. March–April and October–November, with 27–33 °C, are the most pleasant months for combining diving with time on the beach; in winter the sea is cooler, so a thicker wetsuit is useful.
Desert nights and Mount Sinai
Desert evenings cool quickly, especially in winter, and the night climb to the summit of Mount Sinai for sunrise can be close to freezing from December to February, so bring warm layers. In summer, plan excursions for the early morning and spend the hottest hours in the shade or in the water.
