Nuremberg weather by season
Nuremberg in Franconia has a moderately continental climate: warm summers with 24–25 °C from June to August, and cold winters with 4–7 °C by day and frost on many nights. Rain is spread evenly through the year, with 9–14 wet days a month, and summer days often end in short, heavy thunderstorms.
When to plan a trip
May to September is the time for the castle walls, the riverside along the Pegnitz and day trips with children to the Playmobil FunPark in nearby Zirndorf, which is mostly outdoors. September is the driest month. From late November to Christmas Eve, the famous Christkindlesmarkt brings crowds to the Hauptmarkt despite temperatures close to freezing.
Indoors in Nuremberg
On grey or wet days, the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, the largest museum of German culture, and the exhibition rooms of the Imperial Castle are good choices; the FunPark also has an indoor play area for rainy weather.
