Belgium packs a lot of UNESCO heritage into a small country, and five of the six places on this page are in Bruges and Brussels. The historic centre of Bruges is a World Heritage Site: climb the Belfry above the Markt, follow the canals, and visit the Church of Our Lady and St. Salvator's Cathedral. In Brussels, the Grand-Place is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. The sixth entry is not a building but a festival: the Doudou in Mons, part of UNESCO's list of intangible heritage. June to September brings the best weather for sightseeing.
