Spiaggia La Licciola / Valle Dell’Erica beach, Sardinia, Italy

Spiaggia La Licciola is a beach located on the northern coast of Sardinia in the municipality of Santa Teresa Gallura, within the Gallura region of Italy. The beach lies in the area known as Valle dell’Erica and forms part of a scenic stretch of coastline overlooking the La Maddalena Archipelago. It is closely associated with the nearby Valle dell’Erica Resort, and the resort’s beach areas occupy part of the same shoreline.

The beach is widely regarded as one of the notable coastal sites in northern Sardinia due to its light-colored sand, clear turquoise waters, and relatively natural landscape framed by Mediterranean vegetation and granite rocks.

Location and Access

Spiaggia La Licciola is about 8 km east of Santa Teresa Gallura: take the provincial road towards Palau and turn off onto the asphalt road to Valle dell’Erica. The car park (about €1 per hour) is roughly 200 m from the sand, along a short path through myrtle bushes. Olbia airport is about 60 km away. The nearby Valle dell’Erica resort has its own coves, linked to La Licciola by paths along the coast.

Beach Characteristics

Spiaggia La Licciola is about 400 m long and is split into two small coves by granite rocks. The sand is fine and pale, the seabed is a mix of sand and occasional rocks, and the water deepens gradually, so it suits swimming and families with children. The sea is usually clear, with turquoise and emerald tones, and the view reaches the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago just offshore.

Entrance Fees and Facilities

Access to the beach is free. There are no beach clubs on the sand itself, but a kiosk with drinks and snacks is a short walk from the car park, so bring your own umbrella and water.

The swimming season in northern Sardinia typically lasts from June to October. Average sea temperatures near the beach are approximately:
