Valencia weather on the Mediterranean coast

Valencia has one of the sunniest climates in Spain. Rain is scarce: most months have only three to six wet days, and even December and January are mild, at 16–17 °C by day and 7–9 °C at night. Summers are hot and humid, with 30–31 °C in July and August and warm nights around 22 °C, slightly tempered by the sea breeze.

Fallas, flowers and the beach season

In mid-March the Fallas fill the streets with giant satirical figures that burn on the night of 19 March; with about 19 °C by day it is a fine time to visit, but book early. In late July the Batalla de las Flores closes the summer fair with a flower battle along the Alameda, and from June to September the city beaches of Malvarrosa and Las Arenas are warm enough for swimming.

Autumn storms and rainy-day plans

September and October bring the most rain, often as short, intense downpours known as the gota fría, so check the forecast. On such days the City of Arts and Sciences, with the Oceanogràfic aquarium and the science museum, and the Central Market under its glass domes are the best places to stay dry.
